It Is only July and yet the days are noticeably shorter… nights are dark and getting longer.
I like being up before the day breaks and all is dark and quiet about me. As I stepped outside for my daily meditation and prayers of gratitude, it wasn’t even 5:00 AM. Almost total darkness greeted me without a hint of usual breeze. Birds were nested and all was still.
There it was… the lightest sense like silk sliding across my skin, was His presence. “Be Still and Know that I AM God.”
Allowing my heart to expand and fully grasp this knowing, I stood, my eyes quickly adjusting and seeing shapes begin to take form. Nothing seemed to move. Raising my arms above my head, I breathed in deeply of the pre-dawn air; dropping my arms as I exhaled while thanking God for being with me.
Slowly, my ears tuned into the first rustling of leaves and the soft, gentle swishing of grasses. Above and behind me was a single chirp from one of the Swallows I have been watching for the past months, either disturb by my presence, or more likely a greeting as they had done every morning until the babies learned to spread their wings and fly away. I continued to stand and just be.
Lifting my face and peering into the dark sky, there in all her fullness was Luna nestled against a blanket of popcorn clouds. She was beautiful and her radiated light was reflected on the clouds giving light into an otherwise very dark morning. A single star or maybe planet, sat below and to her right.
It was as if God was telling me, “Even in the darkest of times, beauty does exist.”
Yes, there is beauty in the darkness if we are willing to search for it. Most times, you will find that you do not have to look very far.
Please post what beauty you have find in a moment of darkness to provide hope to another, this day.Recommend0 recommendationsPublished in
